DENVER (KDVR) — The mayor of Miami called for a friendly bet with Denver Mayor Michael Hancock over the NBA Finals outcome. Hancock accepted while of course putting all his faith in the Denver Nuggets.Wednesday, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted at Hancock welcoming him to the NBA Finals. MIAMI (AP) â A tropical depression formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, which is the official first day of the Atlantic hurricane season.National Hurricane Center forecasters said in a 5 p.m. advisory that the storm had sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and was located about 305 miles (490 kilometers) west-northwest of Fort Myers, Florida.https://twitter.com/7Weather/status/1664376477591240707The National Hurricane Center predicted the depression could strengthen into a tropical storm Thursday night or Friday. Several students in Miami were celebrated for doing the right thing.City of Miami Police rewarded 10 students for serving their community at a ceremony held at Chief Clarence Dickson Police College, Thursday morning.Among those honored as part of the Do The Right Thing program was Natalia Pomares, a fourth grader at Bowman Ashe/Doolin K-8 Academy in Southwest Miami-Dade.Officials with Do The Right Thing said Pomares knew what to do during a dangerous situation.“Recently, she stepped up and did the right thing by reporting an incident where a student had brought a knife to school,” said an announcer at the ceremony. “She immediately knew she needed to speak up and tell an adult. Davenport, Iowa (CNN) — Two people who were previously unaccounted for after the partial collapse of an Iowa apartment building Sunday have been found safe, Davenport police said Thursday.
