TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — About a dozen people were arrested Wednesday night while protesting in Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Florida Capitol Office, officials said.The 14 arrested were charged with misdemeanor trespass and were booked into the Leon County Jail, Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger told the Tallahassee Democrat.“Once the building closes, unless you have an office in the Capitol, you’re not allowed to be here,” Plessinger said, citing Department of Management Services policy.The arrests were made by the Florida Capitol Police and Florida Highway Patrol, she said. The protestors said they refused to leave until they had a meeting with the governor. CHICAGO -- The Chicago Police Department are asking for the public's help in locating a 9-year-old who was last seen Wednesday afternoon.Daylan Linton, 9, was last seen at Gregory Elementary School on the 3700 block of West Polk Street in Chicago just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Search underway for missing Morton Grove teen Linton is described as 4-foot-3, weighing 98 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The number of antisemitic incidents in the United States has surged to the highest level ever recorded, according to the Anti-Defamation League, which tracks threats to the Jewish community.The group recorded 298 antisemitic incidents in the Midwest alone in 2022— that is the highest number since the group began tracking in 1979.Last year, at Jones College Prep, a student wore a Nazi-style uniform at a Halloween parade. AUSTIN (KXAN) — After 11 days between games, the No. 5 Texas Longhorns made easy work of the Sam Houston State Bearkats 12-2 in five innings on Wednesday at McCombs Field. A grand slam by Texas shortstop Viviana Martinez in the bottom of the fifth pushed the score past the 8-run mercy rule limit and sent the Longhorns to victory in walk-off fashion. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Manor ISD has named a new superintendent.Dr. Robert Sormani took over as superintendent on May 1. He most recently worked for Hutto ISD, where he served as an associate superintendent. A 48-year-old Excelsior man injured his hunting partner on Wednesday afternoon south of Stillwater after mistaking him for a turkey and firing a shot, officials said.The men were hunting together east of Northbrook Boulevard and 51st Street about 1:30 p.m. when the shooting occurred, according to a news release issued by the Washington County sheriff’s office.Washington County sheriff’s deputies and paramedics responded to the scene and took the wounded man — a 54-year-old from Arden Hills — to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge took place Wednesday morning at Hudson Valley Community College.Students worked in teams from eight different high schools.
